OUR MISSION.....
To continue to work on myself as team leader and to develop my own style of
training and running my dogs. Aim to do the best I can do to help my dogs be the
best they can be. To stay consistent and true to my goals and desires, train smarter
and incorporate some races as part of our training. Running freighting dogs takes
a different mindset, especially if you are the slightest bit competitive. We can't
ever consider winning a race, but we can aim to do our best! But most importantly,
when social mushing or racing, to exhibit ourselves as a happy, well trained team,
with good behavior on and off the trail. Everything else will be a bonus.
To remain true to my values of dog ownership by loving and caring for each dog
that blesses my life for the entire duration of their life.
Together we are learning, getting more confident and growing as a team but more
importantly, we are growing as a family of close companions, eager to be together
each and every day. We live for our time on the trail, for adventure and the
closeness that you get when you live and grow together.
We always have an agenda. Training happens every day, every time I interact with
my dogs. Everything I say and do contributes to training....... followed by
obedience classes in the Spring and Summer months which then takes us into Fall
training.
I've been very fortunate to have been able to attend Mushing Boot Camp many
times over the last few years. I learned that hooking up a team and running the
dogs does not constitute training. I now know that training means "training". I am
able to break down the different components of running the dogs into training
needs. Taking time and doing what is necessary to train your dogs and bring out
the full potential of each team member, making timely corrections and working on
trail etiquette and general good behaviour will allow you to be more successful as
the season progresses and the miles get longer. Every dog takes his or her turn
in lead, some are more gifted than others at leading and others, well.... it's simply
what they were born to do. But every dog is capable and every dog should be
trust worthy, lead is a great place for me and my dogs to learn about trust.
The biggest joy, truly, is my relationship with each of my furry friends, it's a deep
bond that goes far beyond your wildest expectations.

TRAINING WITH FRIENDS
Of course, a great way to train your dogs is in the company of friends and their
teams. We always try to take advantage of running with other teams to reinforce
our training, work on passes and hopefully, exhibit good behavior. Sometimes, it
is just so nice to be with friends and I know my dogs love to run with their canine
buddies. Memories of times on the trail with friends always make good stories to
share.
