Steep climb to Russell Pond
Taking a break at the vista parking area
Pretty sure we're looking North East here
maybe at the back of Waterville Valley
Reaching the top
Yahboo stops to read the sign welcoming
us to Russell Pond
Nestled behind the trees is
Russel Pond - quite beautiful
We  couldn't hang
around as the snow
was melting.
Further along this
downhill section, we
pretty much rode
over
blacktop with little
snow and slush over
it.
Hoping we didn't
encounter a moose....
we would have been
in trouble!

Heading back from
Russell Pond

of hill climbing
Heading back
from Hick Mountain
We've had a great
winter so far, breaking
trail is just so
wonderful
*
The tracks to the left
of my team were
fresh coyote tracks
After a good 20 mile run
the day warmed up as we got
back to the truck
Tonka fell right asleep
and was incredible cute!

The year for many miles of adventure!!
Today was the day for
a true wilderness adventure.
almost 12 hrs on the trail
running dogs, taking a
couple of short snack breaks
and then staking out the
dogs for a 3hr break while
we cooked dinner on the
stove
Half way through our
semi-camping day
It was warm, Zuddi
and Lilly chill out
together while
taking a much
deserved break.
My sled could not
have carried any
more gear!
It was bursting!
A little surprised to be in 5 inches
of snow.. with no fresh snow
elsewhere!
Below, time for a nap...Rosie and
Yahboo have shut eye while I take
photos

A day to stay local,
the river was
beautiful with large
chunks of ice
stacked on rocks from
when the river was
flowing after recent
rain.  Nice tight tugs
about 16 miles into
our run...
Heading back up Sandwich Notch Road, dogs
marching away as we come to the end of our long
run.  4 plus hours on the trail in 40 degree heat!!
They did well for fuzzies on a warm day.

Bobby and Lilly will really tight tugs as we climb and
climb,
not looking overheated at all,
they coped well with the effort and the heat
of the day... and its only January !!!
